Musculoskeletal disorders are by far the most common clinical conditions seen in outpatient rehabilitation. This clinical area often yields a lot of new, cutting-edge evaluation and treatment options and this session will showcase such topics. In the keynote, Steve Schmidt will discuss the keys to unlock endogenous analgesia, focusing on the “inner pharmacy” to modulate pain, with an emphasis on different exercises and dosing to optimize patient care. Next, Dr. Paul Mintken will discuss a controversial topic on using dry needling for tendinopathy. Finally, Dr. Kevin Farrell, Professor Emeritus at St. Ambrose University, will challenge the notion that all orthopedic patients need a neurological screen.
